Wigs
Wrench
This wig was one of many firsts. It was my first (and so far only) Starlight Express wig, my first wig made for someone else, my first crepe wool wig, and my first time hand ventilating for real. It had also been about 2 or 3 years since I had made a wig at all.
I was asked to make this wig for someone I know online from the UK to wear to Open Day in Bochum, Germany. It was quite a challenge trying to get the wig to fit right, especially since all of the edges would show, as well as just figuring out how to make it all work. In the end, I'm really happy with how it came out, though there are a few things I would do differently if I had another chance. Since it was going to be traveling to London and then to Bochum, I didn't do the final styling of the wig. More pictures can be found here. Front and back edge are hand tied, the rest is glued. Made in 2006.
Progress shots can be found here.
Puck
This wig is currently one of my most prized possessions. I spent 62 hours and 45 mins completely hand tying this wig with crepe wool. The base is one I was given at the Guthrie when I was taught the basics of wig making, though I had to add the front edge myself. It isn't perfect, but I'm very happy with how it came out. Made in 2010. Process pictures can be found here.
Joy's Rumpleteazer
This wig went along with the warmers and tail I made for my friend Joy and her Rumpleteazer costume. This was my second crepe wool wig, my first Cats wig in 4-5 years and my second time hand ventilating a wig. The front edge of the wig is hand tied onto wig lace while the rest is glued to a base made from control top pantyhose. Made in 2008.
